Privacy statement
Suricate gathers and sends pieces of data to the central site.
They depend on your suricate settings. They are transmitted :
  • On first startup
  • On account activation
  • On each startup and then periodically
  • On each click on the suricate button

On first startup

You firefox version, your suricate version are transmitted.
The central site gives you a userid ( unique id ) and indicates your addon to download the latest blacklist.

On account activation

You have to provide a valide email address and a password.
They are stored in the database. Password is stored encrypted.

On each startup and then periodically

You firefox version, your suricate version, your blacklist version and size are transmitted.
The central site checks the validity of your userid and updates your blacklist ( either a differential update or a full update )

On each click on the suricate button

The following information is used :
  • your ip address
  • your userid
  • the url you'd like to ban
  • the age you set up
  • current date
Ip address is used to avoid deny of service attack.
Userid is used to avoid a single user to ban a site.
These two items are then removed from the database.
Url and age are periodically analysed : url baned a number of times in a determined delay are added to the global blacklist.
Your copy of this blacklist is automagically updated on your PC.
